I am a mother of two beautiful girls. Both of them have Type 1 Diabetes. 'Level Living' was created out of necessity for medical identification for them both. I am the owner of 'Level Living' which started in 2008 and previous to that 'ID4U Designs'. We have had a name change but the products and service is still the same - probably stronger.
So, how did it all start? Courtney was diagnosed when she was just 2 years old. By the time she was diagnosed she was in ketoacidosis and close to a coma. She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, Royal Brisbane Hospital at Herston.
Courtney is now 10 years old, healthy and happy. She manages her diabetes with her "purple" pump whereas before she was injecting 5 times a day. Our other daughter, Sophie is now 7 and was diagnosed last year in December 2008. Sophie is also on an insulin pump and chose the "blue" one.
When Courtney was first diagnosed, I wanted to change the look of the 'black' glucometer cases. Recently, we designed and manufactured our very own case. The cases are available now and can be ordered on the web under 'Accessories'.
I have also designed some carb stickers for helping to remember to bolus.
I am also trying to raise the awareness and importance of medical id. You may have seen me on 'Brisbane Extra' last year trying to do just that. A lot of people did not realise they should be wearing medical ID. If you know of anyone who needs medical ID, please refer them to us or if you notice your hospital/clinic is getting low on our catalogues, please let us know.
Please look at our range and if you have any suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact info@levelliving.com.au .

ABOUT THE LOGO: Sometimes life deals you cards you never expected. The meaning- Who Knows?! With illnesses/diseases you have highs and lows, like life has ups and downs. That's why you need to find the middle ground. Our Logo Concept is "Balance". The red dots resemble blood for health (in particular if you have diabetes from blood pricks from testing). The line in the middle is the balance from one test to another, that's 'Level Living' - the balance between the highs and the lows!!
We are surrounded by wonderful people. We are lucky to have the support of family, friends and medical staff. The team of specialists, educators and staff at the Diabetes Centre, Mater Hospital, South Brisbane have been a partnership of support, professional advice and care. Thank You!
